Atrial Fibrillation - Cardiac Physiologists
A cardiac physiologist has undergone a minimum of 5 years training in all aspects of measuring the function of the heart and using and maintaining the equipment used to measure heart function. Their skills are as diverse as recording an ECG or performing an ultrasound of the heart to setting up and analysing the output from the most complex cardiac mapping systems. The London AF centre has a team of cardiac physiologists who have a special interest in abnormal heart rhythms and the equipment used to record, diagnose and treat them. Because the London AF centre has a high volume of patients it means that they are familiar with using the most innovative and complicated equipment for managing cardiac arrhythmia.
Our team of cardiac physiologists at the London Bridge Hospital is lead by Philip Luce.
Fergal O’Hagan
Fergal O’Hagan is a Clinical Physiologist at the London Bridge Hospital.
He initially studied Medical Physics in Ireland and more recently completed his BSc(Hons) in Clinical Physiology in London.
He has undertaken a wide variety of training, courses and examinations including the IBHRE assessed competencies in Cardiac pacing and defibrillation. He has a wide experience in all aspects of cardiac physiology and main specialises in Electrophysiology, pacing/defibrillator procedures.

Mark Roach
Mark Roach is the Deputy Manager of the Cardiology Department (non-invasive) at the London Bridge Hospital. He graduated with a Masters Degree in Sports Medicine in 1997.
Mark’s specialist interests are implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICD’s), pacemakers and devices for heart failure. Mark’s other specialist interests are cardiopulmonary exercise testing, respiratory medicine, cardiac electrophysiology and interventional cardiology. He has undertaken extensive training and attended numerous courses/conferences over the last ten years in implantable devices and cardiac electrophysiology. Mark is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and has testamur in IBHRE (International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners) examinations in cardiac pacing/defibrillation and cardiac electrophysiology.

Ryan Boucher
Ryan Boucher is the deputy manager of the Cardiology Department (invasive) at the London Bridge Hospital. He graduated in Applied Science (Human Movement Studies) in Australia, and has since undertaken a Masters level course in the analysis and interpretation of electrocardiography.
He has a wide knowledge and experience in all aspects of cardiac physiology, but his main specialty is cardiac electrophysiology. He has undertaken a wide range of training and certification courses in various aspects of cardiac physiology but more recently, has been part of the inaugural Ensite Specialist Program (run by St Jude Medical).
As deputy manager for invasive procedures, Ryan also has the added responsibility of physiologist training and education, quality control, materials management, as well as various other financial matters. |
